At Tower Four – Collins Square, Fytogreen designed and installed Australia’s tallest indoor vertical garden, a striking 52.9 metre-high FytoWall that spans 14 levels of the building’s atrium. Completed in October 2016, this living wall covers 463 m² and supports approximately 13,890 plants from over 16 resilient species, selected for their ability to thrive in an indoor environment.
Now 9 years on, the FytoWall remains a thriving and visually striking feature, demonstrating the durability and long-term success of well-maintained green infrastructure. It continues to deliver measurable benefits including improved air quality, passive cooling, and acoustic comfort. The hydroponic system and growing media also help absorb sound, enhancing the indoor environment for building occupants.Developed in collaboration with Walker Corporation, Woods Bagot Architects, and Brookfield Multiplex, the project reflects a strong commitment to biophilic design and sustainable commercial development. Located at 727 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3008, Tower Four is part of the Collins Square precinct and stands on land traditionally owned by the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung People, whose enduring connection to Country is acknowledged and respected.
This enduring vertical garden exemplifies how green infrastructure can be successfully integrated into high-rise environments to support wellbeing, environmental performance, and architectural distinction.
